Today was one of those cold, rainy spring days. You know, when it’s supposed to be getting warmer, but instead it feels like November. Heating is already off, but the chill is still in the air. I was cold for most of the day — not just my body, but my mood too. My body felt shrunked and tight, and everything inside felt heavy. Cold makes it hard to think clearly. Hard to feel like doing anything.
Usually I light candles to bring warmth to the room, but today... my candles were finished. I felt a bit better after a long hot shower. Now, I’m all wrapped up in my woolen blanket, sitting with a warm tea☕, and listening to the beautiful sound of heavy rain knocking on my window. That’s the only good thing about this weather — the rain sound is peaceful and calming. Like the sky is singing softly to you.
If you’ve ever felt sad or low on cold days — you're not alone. The body gets tense, the house feels unfriendly, and the mind follows. It can be really hard to stay positive or motivated when you're cold and can’t warm up.
But there are little things that help:
🕯 Candles – Not just for light. They bring warmth, softness, and sometimes a beautiful scent. I’ll definitely buy more soon.
🧣 Woolen socks + blanket – My absolute must-haves. They feel like a hug when I need one most.
🫖 Hot drinks – A cup of tea, herbal infusion, or plant milk with cinnamon… warms you from the inside and lifts the mood.
🧡 Cinnamon incense or essential oil – So cozy! It smells like warmth. Just lighting one stick can change the whole atmosphere.
💃 Dancing – When it's cold, you need to MOVE. So, play a good song and dance a bit in your room. It gets the blood flowing, and even 5 minutes helps.
🎧 Rain sounds – If you’re lucky like me, and the rain is real — just listen. If not, there are apps and YouTube. It’s calming, grounding, and gives that cozy mood even without warmth.
🧼 Hot shower or bath – A must on freezing days. Not just for the body, but for the soul.
🧺 Warm textures – Touch matters. Blankets, jumpers, even soft rugs. The brain reads softness as safety.
🍪 Comfort snacks – Something warm or sweet (even a warm banana with cinnamon!). Just something that brings you joy.
🌤 Let the light in – Open your curtains, even if the sky is grey. Natural light can help your brain wake up and feel better.
Cold can make everything feel harder — even simple things. So give yourself a break on days like this. If you're moving slower, if you feel more emotional or just tired... it’s okay. You’re not lazy. You’re just cold, and your body is trying its best.
